Took a week's break from writing about anything as i decided to have a dead brain week aka a main stream restaurant week.
I try not to write about main stream restaurants because firstly, I believe in promoting our local hawkers who have less main stream advertising exposure. Secondly, its boring to write about food more than half the population may have already tried and thirdly, its more interesting on my part to dig for hidden treasure rather than seek the path always followed.
However, if I eat something from a main stream restaurant worth writing about, don't shoot me.
In one of my posts, I wrote about my favourite wanton mee stall at Kampong Arang and swore it to be my favourite and its still my favourite, only less because I found another stall with wanton mee almost as good as it.
Located at the hawker centre in Kovan, Yi Shi Jia Wanton Mee was voted one of top ten wanton noodles in Singapore.
Texture and Taste:
The noodles, wanton and char siew (not fatty) was to my liking but I didn't enjoy the soup which was too bland. Great bite to the noodles and the sauce which i believe makes or breaks the dish, went well with everything.
Good portion and the queue moves pretty quickly.
Please do try when you happen to be in that area and feel like wanton mee.
Worth the wait.
